WHAT IS CALISTHENICS?

Calisthenics is a uniquely Australian sport combining modern dance, gymnastics, singing, ballet, marching and team performance. Calisthenics promotes friendship, self confidence and teamwork.

Depending upon the section, girls learn between 4 and 6 routines choreographed to music during the year. These items are practised each week and then presented on stage at competitions and concerts.

The first class of the Donvale Calisthenics Club was held in 1965 and we have since moved to Lower Templestowe. Donvale is a non-profit organisation run by a committee of volunteers.

The main aim of our club is to develop self confidence, teamwork, friendships, flexibility, grace and poise during weekly classes full of fun activities.  The theme, music and choreography are carefully chosen to individually suit each age group.  Donvale is a warm and friendly club with a family atmosphere and particular emphasis on working together.

Majority of classes are held at the Ajani Centre at 284 Thompsons Rd, Lower Templestowe.
